Whew! We try to start slow, but there sure is a lot to learn here. We went over a lot of office information. We had our first morning meeting all together and started to learn names and what we like to do.
We worked in cooperative groups. We each had a role. The task was to decide on a symbol to become our station symbols. Today the decisions were made, tomorrow we make the symbols at school. Bring in any supplies you might need if you were assigned to.
We had a homework class. Homework will be done at school for the first two weeks. We ask a parent or guardian to sign the assignment book daily - after the student explains what the homework was. Generally homework is always math practice, read on your own and write in your journal. Each activity should take ten to twenty minutes for a total of one hour (maximum - hopefully less) and is expected Monday through Thursday. Fridays and weekends are to catch up if necessary.
Please join us Friday morning if you can. We have the coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Bring a small snack to share. We will introduce the team and parents can meet kids, teachers and each other.
