Ms. Lamb's class moved forward with ADAPT today. We all picked a location and started doing our research. A lot of questions flew about like "What is a steppe?" and "How do you use mica?"

Both classes learned how to post our writing pieces to our class moodle and how to give comments. Most of us finished typing our piece started in class on Tuesday.

Tomorrow is our second literature circle. Everyone should come prepared with their book (read to the correct page) and their journal (with an entry for tomorrow.)

Oh my, it seems I forgot to write about Tuesday.

In Social studies, Ms. Clark's cllass has started ADAPT. We chose where our hunting and gathering society should live and began our research tasks on Wednesday. Ms. Lamb's class will start on Wednesday by choosing a spot.

In writing workshop yesterday we learned how to make our own prompts and got a list of ideas. Each person started a new piece on their own topic.

Lit circles started on Wednesday. Thank you to Mary Wright, Tracie Write, Colleen Wise and Beth Pratt for volunteering. We are learning the system and will have our first reading and on our own journal due for our next session on Friday.

We had a good and someone "normal" day today. Hurray.

In social studies, we all had some time to get some I-search notes organized.

In Language Arts, we had our regular library time and then returned to our Word Study schedule. Ms.Lamb made a word study organizer for everyone to use this week.

We practiced Ms. Lamb's Lit Circle "Method" today. We made journals, wrote and shared.

Ms. Lamb introduced our next social studies unit. It is called "Adapt" and is about relating societies to geography. We find out more on Monday.

Have a great long weekend.

Mrs. Clark's section got started on I-search today. We finished our third organizer, located sources and started taking notes. Remember that Ms. Lamb will look for 10-30 individual note cards next Friday, October 29th.

We all had an extensive book talk from Ms. Lamb regarding potential literature circle books. Everyone filled out a ballot with their top five choices.

Both classes had "Read Around" today. That means kids can sign up to read any of their work to the class. Many students read. We heard some great work.

We had a busy Monday. Ms. Lamb extended the word study lesson across the week and a half to accomodate NECAP tests and the short week. Some of us had to restart today. All word study is due on Wednesday.

Ms. Lamb will be collecting journals on Wednesday so make sure you have the latest entries up to date.

Ms. Lamb's class got started on I-search note-taking today. Mrs. Clark's class will start tomorrow.

We had a great time today at the Flynn. Thank you to the parents who joined us and chaperoned. We had a chilly and windy walk up Church Street, but we made it back.

Remember, next week is a three day week (just when we thought we were getting back to "normal".)

We tried to get caught up in the lab this morning. Most of us finished our sensory piece and located a source for our I-search. In the afternoon, Ms. Lamb's class practiced notetaking with the Current Events Magazine, Junior Scholastic. We are getting pretty good at it.

Progress reports go home tomorrow.

We finally finished our last NECAP today. We worked very hard on these tests. We can't wait to celebrate with our trip to the Flynn on Friday.

Today we practiced a new line up for fire drills.

We also spent a little time on our I-search. We learned beginning note-taking and looked for our internet source. More tomorrow.

The crickets and worms came today. Ms. Lamb put them in their little holding tanks. Tomorrow they will be added to the terrariums.

Monday/Tuesday

My apologies for not writing yesterday.

We spent Monday preparing for NECAP writing tests with a little overview of what to expect from Ms. Lamb. Tests will be Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 and Wednesday from 9:40 to 11:00.

On Tuesday, we spent time with our writing groups "workshoping" our sensory wrirting pieces.

On Friday Ms. Lamb got on started using the Moodle. This is a way to communicate with each other and groups.

Remember we have a field trip on Friday.
